Marjorie J. (Gates) Sihpol, age 98 years, passed away of natural causes on Friday, March 4, 2011, at Essex Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late George and Estella (Reeves) Gates. Mrs. Sihpol was a graduate of Beverly High School where she met and fell in love with her late husband, Theodore C. Sihpol, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. Following high school she was employed as a Teller at a bank in Salem until her marriage in 1939 and again with Beverly Savings Bank while her husband served during World War II. She worked with her husband at his business as Bookkeeper at Sihpol Real Estate & Insurance until his retirement in the 1980's. She was a passionate contract bridge player and was very close to becoming a Life Master. She also loved to entertain and was known for her amazing cooking and baking skills. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Surviving her are her children and their spouses; Theodore II and Dawn Sihpol of Chelmsford; Janet and Thomas Bennett of Wenham; her grandchildren and their spouses; Theodore III and Rhonda Sihpol of New Canaan, Connecticut; Christopher and Natalie Sihpol of New Hartford, Connecticut; Jeffrey and Stacey Sihpol of Norton; Todd and Stephanie Sihpol of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Tobin and Pamela Sihpol of Islip Terrace, New York; Christen and Frank Oliver of Ipswich; and Kimberly Bennett of Wenham; her niece Nancy Cleaves and her husband, James of West Gardiner, Maine; her great-grandchildren, Theodore IV and Carter Sihpol; Sofia and Tatiana Sihpol; Zachery; Chelsea and TJ Sihpol; John, Samantha and Brianna Sihpol; Aaron and Savannah Oliver; and many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.In addition to her late husband, Mrs. Sihpol is pre-deceased by her son, John Sihpol; and her sisters Esther (Gates) Morse and Winifred (Gates) Sterling. A graveside service will be held at North Beverly Cemetery on Saturday, March 12 at 11:00 A.M. A visiting hour will be held prior from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
