Peter C. Amaro

Peter Charles Amaro, 62, of Ipswich, passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2018 at home. He was the loving husband of Nina Amaro. Peter, a lifelong resident of Ipswich, was the youngest child of the late Frank and Hattie (Safstrom) Amaro. Peter worked at and later took over his fathers business, Agawam Auto Home and Marine Supply, before retiring. He was well known for his ready smile and affable interactions with his customers. Peter took great joy in coaching Ipswich Youth Football for a number of years and was involved in raising money for the program. When his children were young, Peter and his wife, Nina, were active members of the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club, where he spent many summer days boating with his family. Frank, his older brother, fondly remembers the fishing adventures he shared with Peter on his boat. Peter also shared a close relationship with his sisters. His sister Jessica, with whom he spoke weekly, cherishes the bond she and her brother shared and will miss their frequent conversations and his endearing reliability. Peter was an avid high school hockey player, and his older sister Stefany recalls spending many winter days skating with him on local ponds as they were growing up. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Emily P. Amaro of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Peter A. Amaro, of Ipswich. He shared a special bond with Emily, whom he called his baby girl. He was the brother of Stefany M. Rhodes (Amaro), Jessica Wheeler (Amaro) and Frank J. Amaro. He had many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. His nieces and nephews will especially miss his enthusiastic dance moves at their weddings. He will be remembered for the humor, warmth, and gentle kindness he brought to every family occasion. His loss will be felt deeply by those who loved him. At Peters request, burial will be private.
