Sister Sally & Family:

Only through the booklet from WSU did I learn of the passing of "my brother Vic" who not only did I have as a professor but I thought of as a friend. I mourn his loss not only to the family but to the community which he served so well.
God Bless You

I sadly just learned of Dr. Ascolillo's passing. I had him as a professor only a few years back. He was so lively and kind. He was always so helpful and attentive to his students needs. He was dedicated to serving his students and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed. It was terribly sad to learn of his passing as I was searching for his email to ask him a criminal law question for work that I know only he could answer with such accuracy, humility, and love in his heart. Your dedication to your students and the enhancement of the law enforcement profession will always be remembered. Thank you. Respectfully Submitted, A Greatful Student

I just heard of Professor Ascolillo's passing. I had the honor of being taught by such a brilliant professor when I was in the Criminal Justice program at Westfield State University(2012). Professor Ascolillo helped me tremendously by teaching me not only via regular classes, but through independent study mainly involving Criminal Law. I was a non traditional student, and he helped me get through the program. Thank you Professor Ascolillo! You have been instrumental in the success of so many. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends.

I fondly remember Vic as a wonderful colleague and friend many years ago at ETSU. He had a warm, sincere smile for everyone and was -- deservedly-- loved by his students. He left some big shoes to fill when he left ETSU to return to Massachusetts. I know his friends and colleagues at Westfield State fully understand thatl loss. My condolences to Sally and his children and grandchildren.

I graduated in 1995 and when I think of a professor that influenced me in my profession, it is Victor Ascolillo. He brought a unique teaching experience that students not only understood , but appreciated. I'm forever grateful for having been lucky enough to have sat in his classroom and learned from the best. Rest In Peace Sir.

Vic was one of about two or three people outside of my immediate family who I permitted to call me Danny. Most days when I came into the department, Vic's office door would be open and I would shout Hi Vic! He would respond Hey Danny, wanna have a coffee? We would then proceed to discuss a myriad of topics ranging from the department, the university, current affairs, sports, our lives, a story that he had told me the day before, a case he had handled, and where he and his wife, Sally, had dinner the night before. Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life, as I came into the department knowing that Vic's office door would be closed and that I would not see him again. Vic was a true friend and an exemplary colleague and, I will miss him dearly. This is going to be a very hard semester.

To Sally, Children and Family,
I was rather stunned when I read today of Victor's passing. Victor was a complete gentleman in the true sense of the word. I have many fond memories of Victor and his sense of humor, and he was always ready with a good story. Visiting his office was always a pleasure, especially when attys. Burke and Rhodes were present, the gag lines were fast and furious, and I had to listen to keep up!
Please accept my condolences for your loss, Victor will be greatly missed by all.

Professor Ascolilo was my advisor and I had him for a few classes while at Westfield State. He was one of the most interesting professors in the criminal justice program, as he had many helpful and useful advise for his students. He was definitely one of my favorite, as he liked to knit pick my brain with questions from a LE side to certain laws. He will be missed.
