William B. Cheney Jr.

1930 - 2020

William B. Cheney Jr., 90, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport. A true "Townie." Bill was born on September 4, 1930 on North Street here in Georgetown to the late William B., Sr. and Sarah M. (Farnell) Cheney. Bill followed in his fathers footsteps and made his living as a truck driver. He spent many years driving plow trucks to help keep the roads clear during our New England winters. After Bill retired from the Georgetown Highway Department, he continued to plow the roads in Rowley, MA. Bill was an easygoing guy and enjoyed his work, however during his spare time he loved NASCAR racing and enjoyed traveling to different tracks around the country with his friends and following the local racing scene while hanging out with his old Pines Speedway buddies. Bill enjoyed long trips with family and friends on his Harley Davidson, he loved being in the company of family. Bill was a loyal and devoted son to his mother, having lived with her until she passed away then moving to Trestle Way. Bill relished in coming from large families on both his parents side and grew up amongst 23 aunts and uncles and many cousins, whom called him "Jr," As Bill grew older, he enjoyed dining out more frequently, he usually could be seen at the old Theos for breakfast and again at the Agawam Diner in Rowley for lunch or supper. He enjoyed all the places where there were lots of patrons and everyone knew each other. Bill especially loved the dinners at the Erie Fire Association, No. 4 here in Georgetown. Bill will be missed and remembered by his nephews and niece, David Fowler and his wife Cheryl of Phoenix, AZ, Pam (Fowler) Margaritis and her husband Teke of Hampton, NH and Gary Fowler and his wife Minda of Georgetown as well as many cousins, great nieces and great nephews and his friends at Trestle Way. Family and friends are kindly invited to his Graveside Service on Saturday, December 12th at 11:30 AM in the Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 6pm in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown.
