Dear Sandy,
My apologies for this belated message, as I only today learned of your tragic loss. While I never had the opportunity to meet Bob, I will always remember how fondly you spoke of him and the courage with which you handled his horrendous diagnosis and illness.
I wish you and your family all the very best through the healing process. While it has been awhile, you remain in my thoughts and always will.
Love,
Emily

"There is a level that certain people with great strength of character and dignity will rise to when the events of the time call for it.There are times that call for an unconditional love and support that not everybody can measure up to, but Bob Kingsland could, and he did. In the darkest time of my life, he held me up when I could not hold myself up, and he helped me to fulfill tasks that I would not have been able to do by myself. That was the kind of man Bob Kingsland was."
Smooth sailing and a fair wind, Bob.

Dear Kingsland Family,
While I did not know Bob for very long, I was inspired by his proud craftsmanship, love for the ocean and family. Not only a nice man, good citizen and well loved friend, a person who achieved much and taught others to dream and reach for the stars. Not many like Bob on our earth. May he rest in peace and God Speed Bob.

I worked with Bob for over 15 years and I can say that he was one that always calmed me down. His famous words to me were always, "Don't worry, you worry to much". He drilled that into my head, making me feel so relaxed and confident that things will work out in the end. He was always there for me when I needed help and I for him. I will miss him being in his corner shop helping the students at BU. Bob, you have taught me a lot in life and work, had some great laughs, and I loved sharing stories with you. I will forever miss you and when ever I hear the question asked jokingly towards me, "How many times do I have to tell you" I will always think of you. Love you buddy.

He made us smile and laugh and we're so sad to see him go. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Stay strong.

We were lucky ones to know Bob thru hard work, fun, humor and family life. Our lives intertwined as children grew and dreams came true. We had the best of times with "Perseverance" and "Restless". We'll all have many awesome memories . Sandi as we've always said before you're the best sport. Bob was a great friend. He always had our back.
Much love always,

Bob was a devoted husband, father and friend. His passion for his work, sailing and life in general was inspiring. He lived his life with integrity, dignity and the drive to work hard. Bob always had big dreams and accomplished much. He valued education and was always interested in learning new things. The world will never be the same with him gone and many people will remember him in the years to come with stories about the man they knew who wanted to build a steel boat all by himself and proceeded to do it. His family and friends will always remember all the good times they shared and hold these memories close tin their hearts forever.

Met Bob back in the early 80's while working as plant manager at BE Peterson, helped him on intricate bend metal parts for Restless. A perfectionist learned a lot from him about the trade and about life. Lucky to intercept in our journeys and walk along for a while...

Bob was part of my life at Cohasset High. As a high school friend, I remember how proud he was of his old chevy and the work he did on it! Ice cream at JJ's and water-skiing off Sandy Beach. Pole vaulting star and Thanksgiving Day football games (#33) w/Hull. It hardly seems fair or possible that he's gone. I can only imagine what a wonderful husband, father and teacher he was and am not surprised that he made the world a better place. My deepest sympathy to the family.

To the crew of the Restless: Sandy, Haley and Brooke,
Bob was my friend and will be deeply missed.
During the construction of the Restless, I was able to visit with Bob many times.
The pursuit of his dream was very inspirational to me, and the launching of the Restless brought me from Florida to be part of that magical moment.
I was very lucky to have been there.
Thank you Bob for being an inspiration, you meant a lot to me!

We are all so much the richer for having Bob, aka "Stash", in our lives. Those of us who had the priveledge of working along side him out on Geroge's Banks during our swordfishing heydays were truly priveledged to witness his inner, creative, loving self and inimitable character at work. I will never forget the day the trip line parted, and he was there to pick me up off the deck of the Carla Joyce...Thanks again, Stash. We miss you and love you.
Your loyal friend,
Lanny

Though below me I feel no motion
Standing on these mountains and plains
Far away from the rolling ocean
Still my dry land heart can say
I've been sailing all my life now
Never harbor nor port have I known
The wide universe is the ocean I travel
And the Earth is my blue boat home

Sandy, Haley, and Brooke,
I always knew Bob was an amazing man! We are truly blessed if when we leave this earth we have changed it for the better. Bob certainly gave us all a gift with his amazing life. Two examples are his beautiful daughters, who continue his legacy of being innovative, creative and working to make the world a better place. His beautiful boat a true work of art is an example of the gifted man he was!

I worked with Bob on many projects over the past 10 years. He was a remarkable man. Countless leaps and bounds for physics, science and health were made possible because he was an expert in his craft. I can state with a scientific certainty the world is a better place because of Bob Kingsland.
