I'm a former Main Street Chatham neighbor of Vic and Mary's. I am sad to learn of Vic's death, even though these last years have been an unhappy struggle for him. I last saw him with a caretaker on the Mall, but my fondest memory is years ago seeing Vic riding off on his bike to go sailing in Stage Harbor. My love to Mary.

My deepest condolences to the Tyler family. As I was cooking dinner tonight I thought of meals I had at your house, for some reason, which led me to Google, and thus to this sad news. I don't know why I happened to think of you on this particular day but I'm glad I did, and I'm so sorry to hear Mr. Tyler has passed. I remember his smile and his infectious curiosity.
My best to you all.

Dear Tyler family-
I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of your family, spending time with Mimi and Mr and Mrs. Tyler. I'll never forget many years ago when Mr. Tyler (I can't refer to him as Vic) came home late for supper and Mrs Tyler asked why. He told her that he was stopped by police for speeding and received a ticket. When she asked why he was speeding, he said that he was rushing home to the family so he wouldn't be late for supper! He was a great family man, that's for sure.
Such a kind and wonderful man. My condolences to all of you.

I will miss Vic so very much. I got to know him because he grew the hay the fed my horses. We talked a great deal and found that we had a great friend in common, Samuel Babbitt. Sam was president of Kirkland College which I attended during his tenure. As it turned out, Vic and Sam went to kindergarten together and held an annual "Kindergarten Reunion" with Vic and a couple of other friends. These meeting went on for decades. Between watching him drive his tractor, stocking my truck and trailer with his beautiful bales hay, and having glasses of lemonade, I came to know Vic for the terrific and humane man he was. Even after his stroke, he could engage wonderfully with those he loved. I watched in awe as Morris and Vic communicated in a way only two who understood and loved each other deeply could. I will always remember Vic in jumpsuit in his eighties jumping off the bed of my truck onto the ground, a feat that would cause many much younger than he to have their ankles, knees, or both, blow out. My heart goes out to Mary, Morris and other members of his family.
