Sylvia A. Ford

1931 - 2016

Sylvia Arnold Ford, 85, of Sandwich, passed away Saturday, November 19, at McCarthy Care Center surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Phillip E. Ford, to whom she was married for 63 years. Sylvia was born July 23, 1931 in Seekonk, Massachusetts to the late Harold and Anita Arnold. She graduated from East Providence High School class of 1949. Sylvia chose nursing as a career, and graduated from Providence Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 and married Philip in 1953. Sylvia did several kinds of nursing. She especially like working as a District Nurse in Providence. Sylvia was a nurse at the Blue Hills Regional Technical School for 8 years, and also loved her work there. She and Phillip lived in Randolph for 28 years raising daughters Laurel and Carol before retiring to Cape Cod. Sylvia was a doting grandmother and an avid quilter and member of the Bayberry Quilters. She is survived by her husband, Phillip E. Ford, her daughters Laurel Ford and Carol Bowering, her grandchildren Belinda, Scott, Philip and yes, her Yorkie Poo pet dog, Cocoa. Interment will be at the Hanover Ma. Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, for family members, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Federated Church on Main Street in Hyannis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA.
