Eleanor L. Duff

Eleanor L. Ellie Duff, of Hingham, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Cecil M. Duff. Loving mother to; James M. Duff and his wife Susan of Scituate, Bonnie L. Noddin and her late husband Bruce of Hingham, daughter in-law Ardell Duff of Poland, ME, and the late Warren G., David C., and Stephen D. Duff. Cherished grandmother to; Christie McDermott, Benjamin Noddin, Alex Duff, Caitlin Peterson, Mathew Duff, John Duff, Lily Duff, and the late Jennifer Correia, as well as many great grandchildren. Caring sister to Garrett Denise of NJ, and the late Harold Denise. Ellie was a longtime resident of Hingham for over 70 years. She spent most of her time raising and caring for her family. She worked for many laundromats in Hingham, and volunteered at the Hingham Senior Center for many years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Hingham. Ellie was a volunteer for ten years for the annual Good Friday Walk held in Hingham. Mrs. Duff was a proud recipient of the Community Recognition Award which is a highly recognized award given to very few people for their outstanding effort to help improve and assist their community. She was very family oriented and cherished that time spent with her family. Ellie was a wonderful woman who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visiting hours for Eleanor were be held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham, on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church, 85 Main St., Hingham, on Wednesday, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. All relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. At the family's request, interment at Hingham Cemetery was private.
