Susan Smith Obituary

Susan Christopher Smith age 71, of Belleair, FL, departed on her final cruise for Heaven Jan. 6, 2015. She passed away peacefully at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater surrounded by her loved ones. Susan was born in Quincy, MA, to Thomas Christopher and Natalie (Lyon) Christopher. She grew up in Hingham, MA, was a member of Hingham High's class of 1961, and a graduate of Endicott College. Susan married Jim Smith in 1977. They lived in Hingham until 1989 when they migrated to Florida. Susan loved cruises, stenciling, crafts, going to the beach, spending time with her family and especially enjoying her grandchildren. She was truly an artist at her seashell crafts which she enjoyed doing with the grandchildren as well. Susan stayed very active. She was an active participant of her condo association, running social events and enjoying her Florida friends. Every summer Susan and Jim returned to Cape Cod to visit relatives and friends. She was loved and admired so very much by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. Susan leaves behind her beloved spouse of 37 years, James B. Smith; her children, Colin McAdams (Laura) of Bradenton, FL, Amy Martin (Baryl) of Safety Harbor, FL, Holly Harootunian (Harry) of Onset, MA, Greg Smith (Kathy) of Duxbury, MA; a sister, Martha McEvoy (John) of Bluffton, SC; and life long friends, Gail Smith of Hingham and June Sheehan of Weymouth, MA. Susan's grandchildren, Kaia, Baryl Jr., Ashley, Hayden and Alex were the joy of her life. She was predeceased by her brother, Mark Christopher (Muriel), of Fairfax Station, VA. A memorial service was held on what would have been her 72nd birthday, Jan. 8, in Belleair. A second service will be held this summer in Hingham.
