I am Jeff's godson. It's hard to believe it's been five years today. I miss him and wish he and I could re-connect. So much I'd ask him, so much I'd tell him. Mostly, I'd thank him for being a positive male role model in my life. I will settle for lighting a candle in his honor tonight, and holding him in my heart.
"Hey, tears all fall the same
We all feel the rain, we can't change
Everywhere we go, we're looking for the sun
Nowhere to grow old, we're always on the run"

I have not seen Jeff since High School. I would pray he would show up for class reunions but never did. He was one of the funniest and kindest guys I ever hung out with. When I think of him, it will always be with a smile. He will be missed forever.

Its really sad to say that we were great friends, because we have not spoken or even seen each other in nearly 20 years. What I have is us, dancing in my parents living room, singing songs and just being friends. I still have a picture that Jeff painted for me, its a beach scene. I see him like it was yesterday, young and full of life. We parted and grew into our selves. Wish we would have kept each other in our lives, so different but in the heart remains a great friendship. I guess I have missed you over the years and took for granted the fact I would see you again. Another life time my frined! Mindy Herrick Zink Forever your dancing partner, I think I want to lead!! lol

Jeff was my godfather. I hadn't seen him in a long time, but he made a lasting impression on me as a child.
He was the sweetest, and gentlest man I knew. He was generous and kind, and a gifted artist.
He and his sister Terri took me to my first museum, and bought me my first astronaut ice cream.
He had the courage to live his life on his terms in a world that didn't often support him. It was he who largely taught me it was better to stand out than blend in.
I have one of his works of art in my room. I don't know if he officially titled it, but it always reminded me of The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost.
I too walk the road less taken, and it has made all the difference.
