Barbara L. Hewitson

Barbara L. Hewitson of Bridgewater died March 30, 2014, in Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, at the age of 80. Barbara was born in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Roberta (Groenendyke) and Victor L. Hart. Mrs. Hewitson was raised and educated in N.J. graduating from Belville High School and from the Trenton State Teachers College. Barbara was a teacher in Short Hills, N.J., for 15 years, then moved to Bridgewater where she taught at the Creative Playschool in Bridgewater, Honeytree Preschool in Raynham and taught Sunday School at the Central Square Congregational Church in Bridgewater. Barbara was an accomplished artist, enjoyed ceramics and was a member of the Red Hats and the Central Square Congregational Church Women's Guild. She was the beloved wife of Walter M. Hewitson; mother of William W. Hewiston of Norton and Jennifer L. Cheek of N.H.; sister of Victor Hart of R.I. An interactive celebration of life service for Barbara was held Friday, April 4, at 4 p.m. in the Central Square Congregational Church, Bridgewater.
