Mary Ince

1934 - 2015

Mary Margaret Ince, 80, of Meridian St., The Arbors died Friday, August 7, 2015 at Valley Stream Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Fitchburg. She was born August 19, 1934 in London,England, the daughter of Theodore and Dorothy (Smith) Hindley. Mary attended school in England and immigrated to the United States in 1959 after graduating from Kings College in London. She lived in Lexington, MA for many years until moving to the Arbors in 2011. She also lived on Kwajalein, a military base in the Marshall Islands from 1972 until 1975. Mary summered on Ashfield Lake for many years. Mary was an educator. She taught English and French at the Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge, MA and loved her work. She also earned her Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) later in life at Boston University and went on to help many teenagers. An accomplished artist, she loved to draw. Mary enjoyed gardening, swimming, skiing, and music, and loved to read in both English and French. Mary leaves her daughters, Hilary Ince of Greenfield and Vanessa Ince of Maui, HI, and three granddaughters, Mollie Tobey and Jasper Tobey of Greenfield, and Alexis Kinzer of Maui, HI. She also leaves two very special family friends, Yona Kimball Smith of Warwick, MA and Caitlin Orner of Rochester, NY, who were both very much a part of her family. In addition, she also leaves two brothers, Christopher Hindley and Roger Hindley both of England, a nephew Richard Hindley, a niece Clare Phillips, and a grand niece Catherine Phillips, all of England. A memorial service will be held Wednesday August 19, 2015 at the Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St. at 7 pm. A calling hour will be from 6pm until service time.
