To Ray's family:
Ray was one of the first people I came to know when I first joined the Lexington Police Department in 1958 and through the years as he served as our police photographer at traffic accidents and crime scenes I came to value the quality of his work as a photographer, and then of course our paths often crossed on Patriot's Day when he served as a valued member of the Town Celebration Committee. Then from 1984 until 1999 when I finally retired he often visited with me at my office at the Burlington Mall and so I knew him not only as the consummate professional he was but as a friend for 41 years. I cannot let this sad moment pass without telling you how grateful I am for having known Ray Barnes and for the countless hours of unheralded public service he once rendered to the Town of Lexington.
