Suzanne Steele Obituary

Suzanne W. Steele, a lifelong Lexington resident, died on March 26, 2020. She was the beloved daughter of Richard and Carol (Smith) Steele. She is survived by many cousins and friends. Suzanne was an Elementary School Teacher in Ashland for 36 years. She was a summer resident at Sagadahoc Bay in Georgetown, Maine, since childhood. Suzanne was well known in Lexington, Ashland, and Georgetown for her friendly and outgoing ways and for her many works of goodwill and charity. A memorial service will be held when it is safe for her family and friends to gather together. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130, to honor Suzanne's love of animals and her concern for their welfare.

Miss Steele was my first grade teacher and Campfire Girl leader. She was my favorite teacher and I have wonderful memories of singing while she played the guitar. I’m so sorry to see she has passed away. She was a special person. God bless you Miss Steele.

Sue was a fellow colleague at the Pittaway School in Ashland where I was the guidance counselor. She was loved by the children in her first grade classroom and had a positive influence on the hundreds of children that she taught.
She was a caring friend who was always thinking of others. Since my son was allergic to our golden retriever, we gave "Ginger" to Sue, since we knew of her love of animals. I have fond memories of my family visiting Sue and Ginger at her cottage in Maine one summer.
Please let me know when the memorial service will be.
