E. de Beer Obituary

E. John de Beer, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on July 15, 2016. He was born on December 6, 1938, and grew up in the New York City suburb of Crestwood, New York. He received his BA and MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. John was a successful money manager working for various financial investment firms during his career in New York City and Boston, Massachusetts. He was interested in music and music conservation and served a Treasurer for the Boston Conservatory for several years. He and his wife lived in Marblehead for 29 years. He was an avid sailor and member of the Eastern Yacht Club, serving on the Race Committee for a number of years. He regularly sailed out of Marblehead, Massachusetts and Edgecomb, Maine where they had a second home. John and his wife retir ed to Santa Fe in 2007. His wife, Sue-Ellen, and their four chil-dren, Jana, Nick, Susan, Cara and six grandchildren survive him. Avista Cremation and Burial in Santa Fe, New Mexico have handled his cremation. There will be a Mass of the Resurrection held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 in the Church of the Holy Faith, 311 East Palace Avenue, Santa Fe, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Santa Fe Desert Chorale in Santa Fe or the Boston Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts.
