Jean H. OConnor

Jean H. (Volante) OConnor, of Marblehead, June 4, 2018 at the age of 82. Jean grew up in Newton, MA, the daughter of Anna (Rugo) and William Volante. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward D. OConnor. Devoted mother of Michael J. OConnor and partner Beth Komachi, Kathleen Truscott and husband Ted, Mary Ann King and husband Russell all of Marblehead, and James E. OConnor and wife Catherine of Newburyport. Adored grandmother of Teddy and Caitlin OConnor, Henry, Emily and Harriet Sidford, Christopher and Damien King and Jennifer, Eliza and Grace Truscott. Dear sister of Ann Marie ONeill of North Woodstock, NH and Peter Volante of Lexington. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Marsden and brother, William Volante. Jean also leaves ma ny loving nieces and nephews. Jean was a graduate of Mt Alvernia High School and earned a BA from Regis College. After college she taught elementary school for several years before retiring to raise her family. She was an avid tennis player and golfer and a past member of the Corinthian Yacht Club and Tedesco Country Club. Jean also was a skier and sa ilor for many years. For the past year and a half Jean resided at the Bertram House in Swampscott, and her family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care they provided Jean. Visiting hours will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Tuesday, June 12 from 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue Marblehead on Wednesday, June 13 at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Private interment.
