Richard Ring Obituary

On Monday February 11, 2019, Richard John Ring of Marblehead, loving husband, father, and Papa passed away unexpectedly during his daily walk on the beach at the age of 71. Rich was born on June 14, 1947 in Lynn, Massachusetts to Elizabeth and George Ring. He is survived by his wife Julie Ring to whom he was married for 44 years, sister Patricia Watson, son Anthony Ring and daughter-in-law Katie, daughter Jillian (Ring) Peterson and son-in-law Emmanuel, along with four grandchildren, Brady and Cecilia Ring, and Colin and Julia Peterson. Rich is a US Army veteran having served as a Sergeant in the Combat Engineers (1969-1972). Rich took great pride in his 35-year career as a Senior Economist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with his most recent work with Warwick Group Consultants. Rich will be remembered for his sense of humor and his magnetic personality, always accompanied by a warm smile and contagious laughter. He was young at heart and had a passion for cars (hot wheels to hot rods), the Red Sox, 60s music, reading, and the salt air of the ocean- rain or shine. He was an active member of the Strokers Hot Rod Club and loved attending car shows with his beautiful wife, 55 Chevy Bel Air, and 40 Ford in the summer. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, colleague, and friend who selflessly put the needs of others before himself. He was adored by his four grandchildren, and by everyone who knew him. So many remark of him fondly as having been a best friend. Visiting Hours were be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 4 to 8pm. Funeral was held from the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave. Marblehead at 11am. Burial was also followed with Army Funeral Honors in the Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hearing Loss Association of Americas Walk4Hearing to honor a walk that Rich planned to complete in support of his newest 10-month old granddaughter Julia. Dear Julie, Anthony and Jillian I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I enjoyed all the time spent with your family during our soccer and baseball years. Rich was my favorite person to talk to at the Sunday night baseball clinics. We laughed a whole lot. He was so kind to all of the kids. They really loved him. My kids thought he was the coolest dad because of his great cars. Although the years have passed since I've seen you, I am really saddened by this tremendous loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Roberta
