Sylvia A. Corrado

Sylvia A. Corrado, 72 years, died at home on February 22, 2012 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Riccardelli) Corrado who immigrated to the United States from Avellino, Italy. Sylvia was a graduate of St. Joseph's School, St. Mary's High School, Class of 1957 and Lesley University. She was employed for many years at the General Electric Company Riverworks Plant and most recently as a Benefits Coordinator for Greater Lynn. Senior Services. She was proud of her Italian- American heritage, and having traveled to Italy many times, she had a deep appreciation for her family's history and roots. She took great pride in sharing stories and pictures about Swampscott Italians during years of 1900 to 1940. Her favorite role was that of sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. Sylvia was an active participant in the restoration efforts for St. Andrew's Chapel at Swampscott Cemetery. Sylvia is survived by her sister, Jean Wheeler of Swampscott, her brother Andrew Corrado and his wife Terri of West Melbourne, FL, a sister in law, Phyllis Corrado of Lynn. She leaves a close friend Jennie Shearer of Marblehead. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Kathe Landergan and her husband William of Marblehead, Robert and Deborah Wheeler of Lynn, Anthony Corrado of Texas, Andrew and Daniel Corrado of New Hampshire, Ricki and John Corrado of Lynn and several great nieces and nephews. She is the Sister of the late John Corrado and aunt of the late Gary and Donna Corrado. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean Street (Rte 1A) Lynn. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Memorial visiting hours are from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday morning prior to her funeral.
