Barbara Balboni Obituary

Barbara Garty Balboni of Marion and Southern Pines, N.C. died on March 1, 2010, in Pinehurst, N.C. after a brief illness. She was 84 at the time of her death and had been a summer resident of Marion for the past 60 years. She was born in Fairhaven to the late Louis and Jennie (Ashley) Garty and moved to Marion while still an infant. She attended Sippican School and was a graduate of Wareham High School and Bryant College. She is predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Robert A. Balboni, whom she met in high school. She enjoyed swimming, golf and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Robert of Seven Lakes, N.C. and Neal and his wife Cecily of Marion. She also leaves a granddaughter, Kristen of Seven Lakes and three grandsons, Bobby of Marion and Jared and Evan Rivas, both currently serving in the U.S. Air Force. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Marion this summer on a date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the Sippican Lands Trust, 354 Front St., Marion, MA 02738.

Dear Neal, Cecily, and Bobby,
If a person is kind to you when you are a small child you somehow never forget it. Although I haven"t seen your mom in many years I remember her being very kind and fun! I wish her peace. I'm sorry for your loss. Stephanie Balboni Canedy
