I feel very privileged to have known Jega for almost 60 years. My memories go back to the time we met in Kantale- and we have kept in touch ever since.
Undoubtedly,he was gifted with a very strong personality and a positive outlook in life, which was an inspiration to all associated with him.
He captivated an audience and kept them transfixed for hours with any topic whether fact or fiction. He was a master in disguise, the true spirit of his discussions were polemic, and thrived with more than one in opposition.
He exibited extraordinary thinking,as his last email conveys. Quote "I suppose some of you might wonder about my state of mind. It's fine- certainly better than the State of the Union. This says it all.
Then he goes on to say, " Obviously, I have been thinking about these matters in the last few weeks, and am emotionally fully reconciled to what I now seem to face. In fact, the removal of (MOST)uncertainties has been a great relief already".
"It's just that for me,THE TIME HAS COME"
He is conveying the message that he faced death with acceptance and died in peace and enlightnment.
We are consoled with this knowledge and embrace his parting with a prayer.
I have lost a great buddy!!!!!.
May his sole rest in peace.
Roland and Carmen.

From Sri Lanka: By mutual agreement, Jega and I were closest of friends from childhood till adulthood. I reserve the privilege of writing a more detailed obituary later. Lucius Mendis aka L.O.

Jega - I am so happy that you died peacefully and surrounded by many of your loved ones. Shiara and Amanda considered themselves most fortunate and blessed to have been with you in your final days. May your soul rest in peace.
