Joanna Samuels Obituary

Joanna Louise Samuels, beloved Mother, Nana, Sister, and Aunt died September 18, 2014 at the age of 79; from a brief battle with Pancreas Cancer. Longtime resident of Newton, MA Joanna is survived by her spouse Leroy Samuels; her four children, Winston Scott, Marcia Dawkins, Clive Samuels, and Diana Samuels. As well as her eleven grandchildren; Racheal Williams, Warren Scott, Stephanie Williams, Roxanne Scott, Nardene Scott, Jordan Freeman, Soraya Thompson, Dean Thompson, Duke Scott, Miles Scott, Mya Scott; and one great-grandchild, Kaia Floyd. Joanna was the youngest of seven children, her surviving five siblings; Myrtle Nelson, Eugenie Henry, Malbina Luis, Estella McPherson, and Clovis George. Joanna was predeceased by two siblings James Lewis and Sylvania McIntosh. A private service / viewing will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 from 10am | 12pm, at Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 (http://bradyfallon.com/). Burial Services will be performed at St. Michaels Cemetery, 500 Canterbury St., Boston, MA 02131 (http://www.stmichaelcemetery.com). Following services a reception will be held in honor of Joannas memory for family & friends from 2-5pm at the V.F.W Post 1018, 500 Morton Street, Dorchester, MA 02124. In memoriam of Joanna her family kindly suggests you make a donation to The National Pancreas Foundation. The National Pancreas Foundation provides hope for those suffering from pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer through funding cutting edge research, advocating for new and better therapies, and providing support and education for patients, caregivers, and health care professionals. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and staff at Epoch Senior Living/ Rehabilitation Center for the around-the-clock care and support they provided during Joannas illness. Joanna Louise Samuels was a loving, kind, wise, good woman who left us too soon. She will live on in the hearts and memories of all those who loved her dearly.
