Margaret Watras Obituary

Margaret K. Watras, of North Eastham MA, formerly of West Simsbury CT, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 with her family at her side. She was born on August 6, 1933 in Hartford CT, the daughter of Emerson J. and Anna M. Kellogg. Margaret was the beloved widow of Henry I. Watras, her spouse of 56 years. She is survived by three children, their spouses and 10 grandchildren: Susan and Dean Anneser of West Granby CT; Kathleen Sayadoff of Fairport New York; and John and MaryJean Watras of Eden Prairie MN. Margaret was predeceased by her son, US Navy Commander Henry J. Watras. Margaret was adored by her grandchildren who spent many summers on Cape Cod with their grandparents: Dean and Sarah Anneser of East Hartland CT; Diane and Matthew Bragoni of West Granby, CT; Donald and Jeanne Anneser of Granby, CT; Peter and Kristen Sayadoff of Tolland, CT; Michael, Megan and Christine Watras of MN; and William and Molly Watras of CA. Margaret also leaves 5 great grandchildren whom she loved: Eva, Jack, Michael, and Grace Bragoni and Maya Anneser, all of Granby CT; a brother Emerson Kellogg, of CT and Paul Trask, of North Eastham, MA and Walpole, NH, a close companion and good friend. She was predeceased by several siblings. Margaret attended Wethersfield High School and the University of Connecticut. She retired from CIGNA Insurance Company. At the Cape, Margaret was an active volunteer at the Joan of Arc Church Thrift Shop in Orleans, MA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 4-6 pm at Farley- Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm. Margarets family will receive family and friends on Friday April 6th, at 10:30 AM at Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Orleans, MA; to be immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Following the service, Margaret will be buried along side her husband Henry, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 2:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margarets name may be made to the Eastham Fire and Rescue, 2520 State Highway, Eastham MA, 02642 or to the FVNA Hospice Program, 8 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury CT 06070. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Peter Schauer of Hartford Hospital, as well as the full hospice staff at the Farmington Valley Nurses Association, including nurse Jacqui and all of the home aids for their wonderful care and support for Margaret.
