James S. Butler

1940 - 2016

James Stephen "Red" Butler, age 76, of Pembroke, passed away surrounded by family on November 7, 2016. He was born in Boston, March 7, 1940. Red served in the 4th Armored Division of the United States Army. He attended Boston Trade School and later Butera School of Art. For most of his life, he owned a union sign company and was a member of District Council 35, Local Union 391, Sign and Pictorial Display. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his companion of over thirty years, Pamela Pitts of Marshfield. He was the loving father of Steven Butler and his wife Laurie of Fairhaven, Tammy (Butler) Smart (deceased), Janet Butler and her husband Dorran Dougherty of Kingston and Tracey Butler (deceased). He had thirteen grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Fisher House Boston, P.O. Box 230, South Walpole, MA 02071. A funeral Mass will be held Veteran's Day, Friday, November 11, at Holy Family Duxbury, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, at 10 a.m.with an interment at Pembroke Center Cemetery, Pembroke.
