Scott Erlandson Obituary

Scott Robert Erlandson, age 19, beloved son of Mark R. and Gayle M. (Olejarz) Erlandson and loving brother to Sarah and Jane, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in his hometown of Georgetown. Born in Newburyport in 1998, Scott was raised in Georgetown and attended Georgetown Public Schools. He was a 2017 graduate from St. Johns Preparatory School, Danvers and was recently enrolled at UMass Amherst Undergraduate School where he studied Computer Science. Scott was a thoughtful, sensitive, and compassionate young man. His wit and humor will be forever remembered by family and friends. He was inducted into the National Honor Society at St. Johns during his sophomore year. As a freshman, he joined the robotics team and for the next two years, prepared himself to be a leader for the team and mentor to the younger students. He was awarded the schools highest honor in Computer Science for academic achievements in robotics during his junior year. At a young age, Scott competed locally in BMX Moto- cross races and won many awards. His hard work and perseverance lead him to compete nationally and internationally. His family was always in attendance for his competitions, as he was for his sisters, all throughout New England and the country, supporting one another. Traveling to Goose Rock Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine and weekend trips to the mountains for hiking, mountain climbing and mountain biking, were other opportunities for the family to share their love for adventure and leisure with one another. Scott was a loving son and brother and will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents Mark and Gayle of George- town and his sisters Sarah and Jane Erlandson, Scott was the nephew of Peter and Susan Olejarz of Acushnet, Frank and Susan Olejarz of Merrimack, NH, Robert and Patricia Olejarz of Dartmouth, MA, Donald and Louann Olejarz of Saugus and Sandra Olejarz of New Bedford. Scott is also survived by his many cousins and close friends. A Celebration of Life Service for Scott will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Chapel, on the campus of St. Johns Prep, 72 Spring St. , Danvers, MA 01923 at 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
