Thomas Sabin Obituary

Thomas R. "Tom" Sabin Jr. of Scituate, passed away May 17, 2021, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston in the arms of his daughter Meredyth Sabin and life partner, "The Ex", Ann Marie Sabin-Brusin. Tom had a long battle with kidney and pancreas disease, as well as many accumulated health issues over the past 35 years but he never let that slow him down. Born June 4, 1955, Tom's love for live music often filled his calendar with concerts, finding his way to the stage kept him young at heart. He played the drums and self-taught the harmonica. Tom was an avid nature lover, he always took the slow road stopping to smell the flowers in his path. Tom volunteered for MA Division of Fisheries & Wildlife as a master instructor teaching youth from the cities how to fish in local ponds. Tom was a life member of the North American Fishing Club as well as the NRA. His love for tattoos made him a work of art all in itself. He enjoyed paintball, coin collecting, bird watching, fishing year round, playing cribbage and being with friends. Tom's outlook on life was a gift to many. His ability to listen came with no judgement, nothing was off limits to discuss at 346 Union Street, Rockland, where he made his home for 30 years. Tom often offered inspirational words and support to those who were struggling, his home became the HUB to many. Tom is survived by his mother, Eleanor (Sabin) Harrington, brother, Paul, and nephew, Greg, great-niece, Alia Sabin, sister, Carol Sabin, Milo his dog, extended family of nieces and nephews and by his "pond crew" and other numerous lifelong friends. Thank you to the team of care providers who help give Tom 65 years; Dr T, B&W, SS VNA, DaVita of Weymouth for dedicated care. A shout out to the nurses at B&W on 15 B. 8 B and a special thanks to the vascular team of nurses on 12 A aka "Shapiro Building" for honoring Tom's wishes and giving him exceptional care, as well offered compassionate support to his loved ones.. A funeral service with a viewing will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, 5 to 7, with end of life closing at 7 at MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman. There will also be a burial on June 5, at 10 am. All welcomed to join in a procession from MacKinnon Funeral Home to Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson. Following will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Tom's life. Please be encouraged to visit MacKinnon's web site for information to link your photos and songs.

I grew up down the street from Tom and his family on Mann Lot Rd in Scituate. I was a few years younger than he and Paul, but I will always remember what a kind guy Tom was. Always took the time to chat with the little kid down the street. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing..
