David Crowther Obituary

David J. Crowther, of Cotuit, MA, formerly of Dover, MA, passed away on August 2, 2018 after stoically living with health challenges. He was 63. David was born in Middle- ton, Manchester, UK and was an avid Manchester United supporter. David completed his basic training in Nursing before coming to the USA in 1980. He earned both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX. He was a nurse practitioner spec- ializing in Mental Health. David completed a PhD in Nursing at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and was a longtime member of the nursing faculty at the university. Upon moving to Dover, MA in 2001, Dr. Crowther taught at various local colleges and most recently was an on-line professor at Angelo State University, San Angelo, TX. He also earned advanced certification in Nursing Informatics. Dr. Crowther was the son of Annie and Frank Crowther (deceased). He leaves behind his wife Dr. Kimberly Crocker Crowther of Cotuit, MA, his daughter Siobhan Patranella (Charles) of Houston, TX, his sister Josephine Crowther and her husband Shane Murray of Manchester, UK, and his nephew Conall Murray (Tara) and niece Keavy Devine (Sean) and great-nieces Amalia and Inez Devine also of Manchester, UK. Dr. Crowther is also survived by his stepsons J. Cary Crocker and Brett Crocker of Dover, MA as well as many colleagues, friends, and relatives in Galveston, TX and across the pond. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. Crow- thers name to The McCarthy Center (Hope Hospice), 73 Service Rd. East Sandwich, MA 02537 or Soccer Without Borders at soccerwithoutborders.org.

David was a wonderfully gifted academian and one who sought to reach students by helping them to think. He was well liked and respected by his peers. He will be greatly missed by many in nursing and in his community in the US and Great Britain. He had a healing touch. My condolences to the family,
