Jeannette Izzo Maurer, of Sudbury, MA, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in Beacon, NY, on August 11, 1938, the daughter of Joseph Guy Izzo and Margaret Davidson Atkinson. She attended the University of Bridgeport, and married her high school sweetheart, the late Niel Edward Maurer, formally of Fishkill, NY, on September 6, 1958, following his return from serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Jeannette was a resident of Sudbury for nearly 55 years. During that time, she raised a loving family and created a successful career as a senior buyer, employed by the Honeywell Corporation and the Candela Corporation in Sudbury. Her family were members of the Greenwood Club in Sudbury, where she loved to play tennis but stayed cautiously clear of the swimming pool. Jeannette was also a faithful and active member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Sudbury. She was a sensation in the kitchen, and nothing truly made her happier than hosting family gatherings over the years, which always ignited her beautiful smile. Jeannette relished in holiday traditions, but none so much as the solemnity of Easter Sunday. She loved Pilates, and was an avid reader who enjoyed attending her monthly book club. Jeannette also volunteered her time working at the Sudbury town polling station, and delivering Meals on Wheels. She had many dear friends across the country, and adored being with her family. She was happy to dote on her tiny feathered friends at her window bird feeder; and she so loved music - especially classical and church hymns. She admired every flower, but blue hydrangeas were her favorite. Despite intimidation by the waters, she revered the magnificence of the ocean. She could also play Chopins "Polonaise" Concerto in A-flat Major on the piano. Her loving and incredibly generous spirit will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Jeannette is survived by her twin sister, Janet Wells of Manlius, NY; her son, Niel J. Maurer of Hinesburg, VT; her daughter Nancy E. Maurer and her husband, Sid Levin of Carlisle, MA; and her son Daniel E. Maurer and his wife, Allison Maurer of Holliston, MA, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews; and her beloved uncle, George D. Atkinson of Beacon, NY. Affectionately known as "Nonnie", she is also survived by her loving grandchildren; Benjamin Maurer, Macy Levin, Addison Maurer, Taylor Maurer and Rylee Maurer. She was predeceased by her sister, Elaine Meyers, and husband, Royal A. Meyers of Watertown, CT; and her husband of 62 years, Niel Edward Maurer. Jeannette's family gathered privately in the Dee Funeral Home. Burial followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sudbury. A Celebration of Remembrance is planned for a later date. In her memory, donations can be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church, 16 Great Road, Sudbury, MA 01776. Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
