Robert Parsons Obituary

Robert 'Bob' Parsons, of Marblehead, MA, Jamestown, RI, and South Pomfret, VT died peacefully at home on December 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, following a hard-fought struggle with pancreatic cancer. Bob had a flashing smile and was quick to laugh, which revealed his infectious fun- loving character. His love for life quickly spread to anyone in his company, and he made everyone he spoke with feel special. Despite spending time throughout New England, it was clear that Jamestown was where he truly felt at home | growing up on the water with his brothers on Narragansett Bay, and later as an adult, always shooting for a three sport day. He could often be found on his porch overlooking Sheffield Cove - sun-soaked and salt in his hair - with a Mt. Gay and tonic at hand and strumming on his guitar. He loved the Grateful Dead, an ongoing affliction that began early in life. He relished playing hockey with the Goal Diggers of Stamford, CT and the Green Machine of Woodstock, VT, never failing to inform his family of the outcome of their latest game, and was also a devoted Hartford Whalers and New York Giants fan. He enjoyed golf (proud of his questionably effective backhand putting technique), tennis, biking, windsurfing, skiing and snowshoeing in Vermont...truly anything fun and active -or spending loving time with his dogs and family in more quiet moments. Bob will be remembered for so many things, among them a unique fashion sense, vivid and engaging conversations, and living life with gusto. He was a man of loyalty, integrity, curiosity and intelligence. His family and friends were most important to him and will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons Ben, Sam and Matt; step-children Sam, Jessica (Anders) and Kate; father John (Carlotta); brother John, Jr.; brother Peter (Tracy) and their children Josh, Emily, David and Holly; mother in law Judy and in laws Whit and Jane Repp (Lindsay (Bo Armstrong), Hanna); Cokie and Mikey Tupanjanin (Peter, Liv, Nicholas). Bob is also survived by his adoring dogs Scout and Zoe. He was predeceased by his mother, Franny Parsons and father in law, Stuart Repp. Most recently, Bob enjoyed working at Shem Creek Capital with his partner, Scott Goldberg, for whom he had the highest regard. remember one thing. that you should not leave this earth until you have made it a little more beautiful. a little lovelier. a little more loving. - OSHO Anyone who knew him knows that he accomplished this, and more. A Celebration of his Life will be held in Jamestown in June. Arrangements by Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St. Salem, MA 01970. I worked with Bob at UBS and just learned the news. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. I have wonderful memories of working together, specifically the day he told me he had entered me successfully into the Credit Training program, it was a huge step for me and he was as excited as I was. I worked on his team for 5 years and enjoyed every minute. Wonderful memories.

Lisa, I was shocked and horrified when I heard that Bob had passed. Skiing and hockey in Woodstock will now have a big empty felling with Bob not with us. I will always remember his unflappable dedication to our team, when he would drive from Marblehead to Woodstock, all in the same day or night, to play a sixty minute game. My deepest sympathy to you, your family and friends. Bob will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

my sincere condolences to Bob's family and friends. He was ma college roommate of mine at Denison in 1977 and, over the last several years, had come down to Westport to stay in touch and talk business. I/we liked him and, will miss the ongoing friendship.
