Maureen Sammon

1941 - 2016

Maureen Sammon, 74, of Hanover, formerly of Pembroke, entered into eternal rest on May 31, 2016. Maureen fought a long, courageous battle with breast cancer and was surrounded by her family in her home when she peacefully passed. Born June 13, 1941, in Everett, she was the daughter of Hubert and Bridget (Kelly) McDermott. Raised and educated in Dorchester, she graduated from St. Patricks High School and was later employed as teller at State Street Bank and Rockland Trust. Maureen was the devoted wife of the late James M. Sammon; and beloved mother of Laura B. Sammon and her companion Mark Bauchman of Methuen, James L. Sammon and his wife Kristine of Morris Plains, N.J., Daniel C. Sammon and his husband Thomas Broderick of Dorchester and Maureen C. Sammon and her wife Lauren Wallace of Malden; treasured sister of Kevin McDermott and his wife Mary Sally of Billerica and the late Paul McDermott, Phyllis Winslow and Edward Kelly; cherished grandmother of Amelia Fabiano, Abriana, James P. and Conor Sammon. Maureen also leaves many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, Hanover, Friday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte. 139, Hanover, Saturday at 9 a.m. Burial in Pembroke Center.
