Timothy Hennigan Obituary
Timothy R. Hennigan, of Hanover, and Longboat Key, Fla., passed away January 12, 2016 at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Claudia (DiBona) Hennigan of Hanover and Longboat Key, Fla. Cherished father of Tim Hennigan Jr. and wife Robyn of Marshfield, Mass., Theresa Hennigan Bonnyman and husband Kevin of Halifax, Mass., and Jennifer Giles of Maui, HI. Devoted grandfather of Ryan and Alyssa Hennigan, Kyle, Sean, and Quinn Bonnyman, and Zachariah Giles. Loving great-grandfather of Evalynn Hennigan. Dear brother of Peg Bloom and husband Alfred, Donna Bell and husband Robert, Chris Seery, and Brian Hennigan and wife Robyn and brother-in-law Damien DiBona and Elissa Katler. Born in Boston, Mass. on January 18, 1945 to the late Timothy J. Hennigan and Margaret (McCabe) Hennigan of Sun City, Fla. Upon graduating from Saint Johns Preparatory School of Worcester, Tim received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. However, eager for action, he joined the Navy for active service in 1964 and spent much time away at sea on Destroyer Class Ships, along with visits back to his young family at Naval Station Newport, R.I. In 1968 Tim resigned from active service and remained on with the Navy Reserves for several years. In 1969 he joined his fathers fledgling water treatment and consulting engineering business. Tims brilliant mind for business, competitive nature, and gift of gab proved just what the young business needed. He took over the reigns as President in 1972 and hit the road with great courage, wisdom, and integrity, convincing his Power Generation Industry clients that he was, indeed, the best thing since sliced bread. He also convinced his family that as long as people want lights on at night we will have business to perform. With that, his family joined the team and over the course of 48 years forged Hennigan Engineering Co. Inc. into the premier, multi-disciplined, national service provider it is today. His entrepreneurial spirit never quit, as he founded the successful sister companies Heat Exchanger Products (HEPCO) and HydroDynamics. All three companies continue to flourish in the control of family members and devoted employees. Tim loved the ocean and spent quality time boating and fishing, until he discovered Harley-Davidson, which put him on two wheels, and led to many biking adventures with family and friends. His true love was his wife and family, which he cherished more than life and spoiled with grand family vacations in exotic locations. He created Heaven on Earth for himself, his family, and friends and will be deeply missed by those he touched. A private ceremony was held at the Sarasota National Cemetery on his 72nd Birthday, January 18, 2016. A celebration of life, in his name, will take place in Massachusetts in May. Contributions in his memory may be made to Dana Faber Community Cancer Care of Weymouth. Checks made payable to Dana Farber Community Cancer Care Patient Assistance Fund.
