David A. Goldman

1921 - 2015

David Abraham Goldman , son of Benjamin and Ida Goldman, born October 26, 1921 in Boston, died on May 15, 2015 at the age of 93, in Vista, California. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce and her children and grandchildren. Dave was predeceased by his beloved first wife of 56 years, Charlotte. They resided in Sharon, for many years until retiring to Oceanside, Calif. in 1984. Dave was the patriarch of an extended family including children Lewis A. Goldman (Lizz), Marlene B. Goldman (Michael Ellenbecker), and Paula A. Goldman (David Flaherty), sisters Lillian Frye (Cy) and Evelyn Morris (Lewis), and in-laws Estelle Hurwitch and Denning Ciapetti. He was Papa to Jeffrey Goldman, Pamela Hansen (Chris), Michelle Flaherty, and Edward Flaherty and great-grandfather to Olivia and Cole Hansen. In addition to Charlotte, he was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law Bernice Feinberg (William) and Estelle Golick (Irwin). He is also survived by many loved and loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. A 1939 graduate of Dorchester High School for Boys, Dave was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corp as a Flight Engineer for B-29s and B-24s from 1941-1945. He owned and operated Daves Texaco Station in Canton, Mass. He later became a faculty member at Blue Hills Regional Technical High School. Dave was also a special police officer in Boston and Sharon, and a founding member of the Massapoag Sportsmens Club. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, Mass. on June 15, at 10:30 a.m. After a graveside service the family will welcome family and friends at the home of Paula Goldman. Donations in Daves name may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Alzheimer's Association, or the American Heart Association.
