SARA BODDY Obituary

Sara Lynn Boddy (nee Roberts) died December 20, 2014. Born Sept. 7, 1954, she was the eldest of three children of Barbara and Amos Roberts. Sara is most remembered by her loved ones for her intellect, passion for knowledge, thoughtfulness, care and generosity to family and friends. She enjoyed travel, especially when she was able to treat her nieces or nephew to a trip of a lifetime. Sara was a writer, editor and voracious reader as evidenced by reading 238 books in 2014! Her incredibly thorough research of family genealogy and completion of a book on the subject will provide a valued and lasting legacy to the family. Sara received her Bachelor's Degree in Geology from UMKC. She was a senior science writer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo. She lived briefly in Houston, Texas, and Calgary, Alberta, where she was involved with the Calgary Horticultural Society and served on its Board. She then retired and lived for many years on Kootenay Lake near Nelson, British Columbia. She leaves many good friends north of the border. Sara returned to Kansas City to be close to her family and was an invaluable help as chauffeur, social coordinator, counselor, and rock. Sara is survived by her parents, Barbara and Amos Roberts, brother, Tom Roberts (Kim), sister, Helen Stoll, four nieces, one nephew, two great nephews and two great nieces. It will be impossible to fill the gap she leaves. A private memorial will be held; the family requests no flowers. Please consider a donation to Johnson County Library Foundation, 9875 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS 66212, or a blood donation in her honor, if you are so inclined.

Tom, Helen, and families,
Brother Bill and I were both just reminiscing and after a little research learned about Lynn and your parents. What a blow it was to learn about all three at on time. Your family was an important part of our young lives as neighbors and we have many happy memories of the fun times we had on Mohawk.
If you read this message I would love to hear from you. Please drop me a quick message at [email protected].
I hope all is well with your families.

A childhood friend, all the way through school, as we lived one block apart. So sorry to hear this news from my mom back in KC.

I was a friend to Sara many years ago in Denver. She was a spark in our shared workplace, she made me laugh and laugh. I am so sorry to hear of her passing from this life. My condolences.

My sincere condolences are offered to the family and friends of Ms. Boddy. Her thirst for knowledge was admirable, and what a joy to know this endearing quality is remembered and appreciated by her Creator (Proverbs 2:10, 21)

You will be missed my friend. What a ray of light, wit, and intellect you have brought to my life and so many others. Popcorn and cheese, you were surprised? Tennessee Tornado (your tag) will miss you.
