George D. Meimaris, 89, of Decatur Lane, Wayland, W Yarmouth, MA, previously of Weston, died November 15 at home per his wishes. He is survived by a brother Nick of Crofton, MD. Born in Boston, son to the late Demosthenes and Aristothea. He pioneered many commonly used purchasing practices in use today. George was a mentor to many. Soon after retirement, he helped a friend start the purchasing department at newly formed Apollo Computer in Chelmsford. Once retired, he was successful at his lifetime ambition of being a beach bum. George was a world traveler not only for business where he and Tasia hosted the heads of many Fortune 100 companies in their home, but he traveled for pleasure, spending winters in the Caribbean and traveling to Europe many a spring and summering on the Cape. He was founder, past President and a parishioner of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Weston. He was a Shriner. He was an active board member for many years for Friends of Hospice a fundraising arm to Wayside Hospice. He was also a past president, and treasurer of the Riviera Estates Community in West Yarmouth. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by the light of his life granddaughter Alexis Lauria of Norfolk MA, Jenny Holbrook of OH and Meridith Vachon. I really enjoyed working with George and Tasia. They appreciated each other and were so in love, they doted on each other. I feel honored to have worked with them. Goodbye George, God has truly blessed you and your life !!

George was a true delight to meet. Though limited due to illness, George always had humor and a wonderful smile. I often told George and Tasia that I enjoyed watching them look at each other because of the love they expressed. I will miss my visits with him and Tasia. Dan Twomey, VNA Hospice Care
