Belle of Louisville memory!
sally meilun
May 1, 2020
I suppose it is apropos that the twins would both leave this world within a few months of each other. I hope they are both causing relentless havoc in heaven.
In stead of admitting the proverbial cycle of life was eminent, whether is was an old black and white TV, toaster, or stereo system, the twins were inspired to refurbish, repair, or improve it rather then toss it in the garbage; it must have been the "engineer" in them!
I remember when Uncle Ed visited my family during a heavy snow storm. He tried to convince me that he was my father and he almost had me believing him until he said, "I'll build you a piano out of snow in your front yard". I knew then he was pulling a Meilun prank.
Uncle Ed was so brilliant and he had an amazing recall memory. My father use to marvel at his brother's ability to rattle off Lithuanian phases, remember names of Lithuanian friends and recite Japanese words.
Uncle Ed was always ready for an adventure and challenged himself to learn something new. On the twin's 93 birthday he came to visit with Ricky (Cliff) and was off to the Belle of Louisville for an excursion, toting his bowling ball size camera case! I remember he wanted to go to the engine room to understand how the steam engine worked.
Most of all, Uncle Ed cherished his family. His unwavering devotion to his family, his sincere honesty, and unique true grit will be missed by all that knew him well.
May the twins rest in peace..Love you Uncle Ed and the amazing family you have left behind.
