Frances York Obituary

Frances A. (Gilberto) "Fran" York, of Weymouth, passed away on January 20, 2014 after a long bout with cancer, at home with her husband by her side. Fran worked in the Weymouth Public School system for over 14 years. She had a love for children that grew into a relationship that was more like mother to all those she cared for. Fran enjoyed her annual winter trips to Marco Island, FL relaxing on the beach with a book in her hand. Her greatest joy was the comfort of spending time with her family. She had a contagious laugh and a gifted hand in the kitchen. She will be sorely missed. Beloved wife of David York of Weymouth. Loving mother of Michael York and his wife Dani of Brooklyn, NY, Mark York of Quincy and Andrea York of Weymouth. Cherished daughter of Anna Gilberto (Vella) of Braintree and the late James Gilberto. Caring sister of Jim Gilberto and his wife Jeanne of Weymouth, Roseanne Trinkner and her husband Gary of N. Royalton, Ohio and Michael Gilberto of Ashland. Devoted Nana of Maggie and Mae. Also survived by many close friends and family members. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday, Jan. 25, 3-6 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, North Weymouth at 40 Sea Street (off Rt. 3A-Bicknell Sq.). Memorial service was celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, North Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Fran may be made to the Pan-MA Challenge, PMC ID: 70412-8, P.O. Box 415590, Boston, MA 02241-5590. Dear Dave and Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I first met Fran while working at school and always enjoyed talking with her. She shared with me how she roasts vegetables and I never make them without thinking of her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
