Gertrude F. Powers

Gertrude F. (Alves) Powers of North Weymouth passed away peacefully at the age of 81 at her daughters home on June 25, 2010 after a long struggle with Alzheimers disease. Gert is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Thomas L. Powers, Sr., eight children; Marie Jacobs and her spouse Larry of Abington, Patricia Lennon and her spouse Jack of N. Easton, Jeanne Wojner and her spouse John of Rockland, Susan Duty and her spouse Ken of Hanson, Gail Corrigan of Carver, Janet McCaslin and her spouse Marc of College Park, MD, Kathleen Leneweaver and her spouse Peter of N. Weymouth, Thomas Powers of Provincetown, 14 grandchildren: Lindsey, Emily and Benjamin Jacobs; Danielle and Kelly Lennon; Nichole and Christine Wojner; Robert and Tyler Corrigan; Christopher, Michael and Julieann McCaslin; Zoe and Mia Leneweaver and 1 great-grandchild; Brendon White. Gert was a daughter of the late Pedro and Maria Alves and grew up in Plymouth with six brothers and two sisters. She was the most loving of mothers whose life revolved around her family and friends. Gert was a faithful parishioner of St. Jeromes parish. She was a retired seamstress and an avid bowler. Funeral was from the funeral home on Monday morning, June 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Jeromes Church, 632 Bridge Street (Rt. 3A) No. Weymouth at 11:00 a.m. Burial immediately following at Fairmount Cemetery, East Weymouth.
