Gregory P. "Greg" Peck, of Weymouth, passed away March 2, 2021. Greg was born in Boston to the late Claude and Thelma Peck. He grew up in South Boston and later moved to South Weymouth. Greg was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Weymouth, and the University of Lowell. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, served proudly in the Vietnam War, and retired as a Captain. In his retirement years Greg obtained his boat captains license. He found his dream job working for Boston Harbor Cruises driving the water taxis in Boston Harbor, and sharing his expansive historical knowledge with his passengers. Greg was a member of the Braintree Gun Club where he would share his culinary talents providing special meals to the members. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, boating, studying history, and spending time with his family cooking culinary masterpieces. Loving brother of Cheryl Edgar of Braintree, Pamela Vasta and her husband John of Medway, Claudia Briody and her husband Michael of Falmouth, Lisa Tworig and her husband Richard of Pembroke, and Lori White and her husband David of Pembroke. It was my privilege and pleasure to know Greg from working on the Water Taxis together. He was never seen without a newspaper or magazine as well as a book or three. Many hours were passed discussing history, sports, politics, travel, literature, cooking and of course the extended family that he loved so much.
Truly an officer and a gentleman.

My family and I were saddened to learn of Greg's passing. Greg and the North Shore were loyal customers of my dads'. As my dad (Demo Marken) mentioned when I told him this sad news, ' Greg was a great and loyal friend and customer'. May your memories sustain your family. With sympathy- the Marken Family

Sadly, I don’t see my cousins that often but love chatting on Facebook. Remember Greg when he was young living in Southie near the beach and Kelly’s Landing. So long ago. My sympathies are sent to all his sisters

Capt. Peck,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USMC-especially during the Vietnam War. It was the history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines of the “Old Corps” back then that all us Marines who followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to to extend my deepest sympathy.

Very sad to hear about Gregs passing, what a great person he was. He always had a story or joke or history lesson to share with all of us on the water taxis and always made it interesting. You could talk any subject with him - politics, religion, travel, he was always really great conversation, such an interesting person to be around and a great mentor to me. I am so glad that he got to travel the world the last few years, he loved telling us all about his experiences. Very sorry to Gregs family for your loss, he will be missed greatly.
