I started as Town Engineer in Weymouth in 1995. Jeff was the senior engineer and had been Acting Town Engineer just prior to my hire. He was far more knowledgeable in public works than me, which is an understatement. He was so generous and helpful, literally invaluable, to me for my early years. He was also a nice, funny, easy to like guy and always a pleasure to work with. When he took advantage of an early retirement, I praised and thanked him as best I could for all his help and years of invaluable service to the town but I also knew that it was definitely the best thing for him. I hope he and his family got to spend some good years together. He visited occasionally after that and it was always great to see him. Like many others, I will miss seeing him very much. Godspeed, Jeff.

To the Goodale family: I am so very sorry to hear about Jeff. I played cribbage for about 1O years against Jeff and his, partner Dick in the good old days at the American Legion....or should I say, I kept them company while they kicked my butt. Thankfully, they did it fast so it didn't hurt so much. I found Jeff to be a sweet and honorable guy who had a great love for greyhounds. I always told him, he must be someone special....he had a whole street to himself. May he rest in peace and may your memories help comfort you at this very difficult time.
