June Murphy Obituary

June P. (Lacey) Murphy,in Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester and Roxbury, April 6, 2018, age 89 years, passed away at home after a courageous and progressive battle with lung disease. June was a supportive, generous, selfless, and humble woman with a big heart, and if need be, could be a spitfire. June was a retired medical records clerk for the City of Boston Health and Hospitals Department for over 20 years and in her quest for life, she also enjoyed her work at Stutz Blacker Antiques and as an usher at the Opera House in Boston for 12 years. Beloved wife of the late Francis L. Murphy Jr. Loving mother of June and her husband Tom Freel of Marshfield, her devoted son Lincoln E. Sonny Smith and his companion Carolyn Garabedian of Dorchester, and Frances Murphy and her husband Peter Martinkus of Weston. Loving and dear sister of Deamie Maggio of Quincy, and the late Flora Vogel, Doris Hattenburg, Catherine Arey, Jackie Siedman, Irene Clarke, Shirley DeChellis, and Russell T. Lacey. Devoted nana of Shauna, Lauren, Katie, Paul, Peter Johnathan, and Charlotte. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Junes life by gathering for visiting hours in St. Jerome Church, 632 Bridge St., Weymouth, MA 02191, on Monday, April 16, from 4 - 8 p.m. Her funeral Mass celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1 p.m. The family would like to acknowledge a heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to all of Junes medical providers and cherished friends that provided comfort, love and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Junes memory may be made to the St. Jerome Church St. Vincent DePaul Society, 632 Bridge St., Weymouth, MA 02191. For guest book, please visit www.jmurphyfh.com.
