M. Settimelli Obituary

M. Patricia (Avery) Settimelli, died on May 27, 2018, from complications of lymphoma. Her husband, J. Peter Settimelli, Jr., president of the former E. Settimelli and Sons Granite Manufacturers in Quincy, died May 21, 2018 of a stroke. The couple, from Weymouth, would have celebrated 60 years of marriage next month. Pat was the daughter of the late Quincy Chief of Police John J. Avery and Mary Ellen Thompson of Quincy. She graduated from the Woodward School for Girls in Quincy and earned a B.A. in social work from Regis College. Beginning in 1973, Pat was a successful realtor who served as the real estate broker at Weymouthport condominiums in North Weymouth. Over the years she made many friends with her real estate clients. Pat was predeceased by her siblings, Gertrude Wilding, William Avery, and Walter Avery. Peter and Pat were the parents of Ellen Settimelli and Paula Settimelli of Boston and the proud grandparents of Christopher Poillucci of Boston. The couple enjoyed spending time on the Cape, traveling and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family in Whistler, British Columbia. Peter and Pat leave many friends and relatives who, though saddened by the suddenness of their death, can perhaps find solace in knowing the brevity of their suffering. Visiting hours on Thursday, May 31, from 4 - 8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home--South Weymouth at 809 Main Street, South Weymouth (Rte. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Johns Church, Quincy, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center-Philanthropy Department, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215. We just learned of Pat's passing. Over the last 20 years, we bought a condo at Weymouthport for my brother, David, and Mom lived at East Bay. When my brother, Dave, died in 2016, Pat was very kind to us (as she always had been). She helped us with contractors during the remodel and assisted us in finding a new tenant. Her 40 years there will be sorely missed and irreplaceable not to mention her endless energy and eagerness to help. Pat was so kind and friendly to everyone. She will be missed in many ways. We are so sad for the loss of your father 6 days before. May they Rest In Peace together. Barbara Allen and Lea Allen

Sending Love and hugs from Minnesota. I am sorry I am not able to get there - I will always hold Uncle Peter and Aunt Pat close to my heart. So many fond memories. Her smile and laugh were always larger than life. Such a wonderful role model for all working women. Love, Kerry
