George Preisler Obituary

George William Preisler, aged 88, passed away on February 27, 2025, in Allegan, Michigan. Born on February 22, 1937, in Park Falls, Wisconsin, George was a cherished figure known for his deep knowledge, love for his family, and a keen sense of humor that often took others by surprise.
George's early life was marked by his athletic prowess, playing basketball at his high school in Park Falls and earning a scholarship that led him to Stevens Point and later the University of Wisconsin Superior College. Also, while in high school, George played the accordion in a band called The Blue Notes. George and two high school friends would play around Park Falls and surrounding area. His academic and athletic pursuits were only part of his story, as he also served his country with distinction. George was a proud Army PFC and a Sharpshooter with the Rifle M-1, serving from September 23, 1959, to December 31, 1964, which included time in the National Guard.
Professionally, George was a respected National Sales Manager for AFCO Industries of Holland, Michigan, among other companies. Later, he explored entrepreneurship, owning Redders Party Store and The Shelf & Custom Shop in Holland, where he combined his business acumen with his love for building and creating. One of George's fondest accomplishments was being a subcontractor of the home they built on Allegan Lake in 2004 and was able to finish the interior with his son Brian.
George was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Allegan, Michigan. His hobbies included hunting, golfing, building custom shelves and wooded frames, reading, traveling, and watching sports on TV, reflecting his diverse interests and active lifestyle.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna; daughter, Cheryl Hense (Mark); grandchildren Ava, Cody, Jake Hense, and Lillian Preisler; sisters-in-law Marilyn Preisler, Geraldine Beltinck, Beverly Clemens, Peggy Hegeman, and Kathryn Hegeman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian J. Preisler; brothers Duane and Donald Preisler; mother, Marie Preisler; father, Joseph Preisler; and brothers-in-laws: Fred Hegeman, Ronald Clemens, and Ken Hegeman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran church in Allegan Saturday March 29, 2025, 11 am- 2 pm; with a luncheon to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. George will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his contributions to his community.
