Franklin Remus Obituary

Franklin L. Remus passed away at home in Albion, Michigan on March 13, 2025, of pancreatic cancer. He was born in St. Johns, Michigan on Aug. 6, 1942, to Rex and Rosanna Miller Remus. He grew up with two brothers. Robert and Richard, and four sisters, Carolann, Anita, Rosemary, and Ruth Ann.
On July 10, 1965, he married Katherine Nass, daughter of Fritz and Helen Nass of Albion. They were married 60 years. She survives him. They met in 1963 at a church get-acquainted game for Michigan State University students.
He is survived by sisters, Anita, Rosemary, and Ruth Ann, his sister and brother in-law Leslie and James Maxwell, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Richard, and sister Carolann. He was also preceded in death by in-laws, Fritz and Helen Nass, Judy Gonzalez, Gerry Remus, Fred Smith, Glenn Hills, Art Farr, Ralph Iocco, and Elsie Remus.
He had many treasured nephews and nieces. Close to his heart were three nieces he called his adopted daughters, Christine Burlison, Kyla Remus, and Donna Maxwell.
Frank grew up as a farm boy in the early 1940s with a pet raccoon and a beagle named Buddy. He had the freedom to roam the woods all day with his friends. He loved animals and being outdoors. He was loving, kind, generous, smart and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He attended a one room schoolhouse through grade 8 and was graduated from St. Johns schools. He received BS degree and master's degrees from MSU. He served with his wife in the US Peace Corps from January 1966 through December 1967 in Nigeria, West Africa. He taught at Concord Senior High for 27 years, teaching math, science, and computers.
Frank loved God and served Him his entire life. He was an active member and elder at Network Family Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Network Family Church or to Cascades Humane Society in Jackson, Michigan.
The celebration of his life service will be on April 19, 2025, at Network Family Church, 13600 28 Mile Road, Albion, MI. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. with the service at noon.
