Albert Cruden

1947 - 2025

Albert "Al" J. Cruden, age 77 of Clare, passed away following an extended illness on Friday, October 3, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at home. Al was born the son of the late Andrew and Irene (Speakman) Cruden on December 20, 1947 in Detroit. He and his family had moved to Clare when he was younger, and Al graduated from Clare High School. He was united in marriage to Patricia Morrison on December 31, 1994. Al had served and protected his community as a member of the Clare Fire Department, answering the fire whistle and pager tones for 15 years. While on the department he served as Secretary, as well as Lieutenant. He had worked for Robinson Industries as an Extrusion Operator for 40 years. In his free time Al enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Professional Wrestling, as well as attending car shows and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife Patricia; children Shelly (Mike) Benner of Bradenton, Florida, Albert (Laura Halliday) Cruden Jr. of Taylor and Matthew (Amanda) Cruden of Clare; his stepdaughters Angela (Steven) Spaeth of Cedar Springs and Holly (Eric Schalm) Sargent of Harrison; a brother John (Barbara) Cruden of Allegan; his brother-in-law Greg Bates of Farwell; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and his brother and sister-in-laws Daniel Morrison (Micheline Rocourt) of Lansing, Michael Morrison of Lansing, Philip (Yvonne) Morrison of Mason and Nancy Morrison of Mt. Pleasant. He was predeceased by his sister Christina Bates.
Visitation and services will be held at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. and Wednesday October 8, 2025 from 12 Noon until the time of services at 1 P.M. led by Al's longtime neighbor and friend Pastor Paul C. Fetzer. Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
