David Thomson Obituary

David Thomson Sr., 67, of Clare, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Thursday October 9, 2025 at the Veterans Hospital in Saginaw. He was born May 10, 1958 in Clare the son of the late Alton "Ross" & Shirley (Brown) Thomson.

David served with the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1979. He enjoyed hunting, shooting guns, and fishing with his grandchildren. He was an avid listener of anything Willy Nelson, loved watching westerns and reading Louis L'Amour books. His greatest joy came from spending time and being a grandpa to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Barbara (Geeck) Thomson of Clare, children; Samantha & Shane Durga of Mayfield, Sarah Thomson & Chris Wiley of Harrison, David Thomson II of Clare, grandchildren; Alex, Shane, Wesley, sister Mary Sattazahn of Lansing, many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother Ross E. Thomson, sisters Norma Jean Dole, Karen Thomson and Kathy Wellman.

Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman at 11:00 am Saturday October 25, 2025 with a celebration of life BBQ to follow at his and Barb's home.

O'Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
