Ella Zastrow

Ella Louise Zastrow, age 97 of Lake passed away at Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, November 8, 2025. A Funeral Service for Ella will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Kevin Maksym officiating. Visitation will be held that same day from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will take place at the Lake Eagles Club in Lake following the funeral. According to her wishes, Ella will be cremated and laid to rest at Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant in a private graveside service at a later date. Memorial considerations may be made to the Lake Eagles or to the Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS). Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Ella was born on July 1, 1928 in Bluffton, IN, the daughter of Orville Oliver and Iva Ethel (Walser) Long. She was united in marriage to Ralph Emil Zastrow on June 12, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant. Ella and Ralph owned the Lakeside Bar in Lake for 9 years. She was very active in the community in several ways. When her sons were young she became a Scout Leader, she was a member and worked as the secretary of the Lake Rod & Gun Club, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the DAV, and a lifelong member of the Lake Eagles. She was also president of the Women's Auxiliary several times. Ella loved cats, she collected cat figurines and enjoyed bingo and bowling. Ella is survived by her daughter, Cathy Frederick of Mt. Pleasant, grandchildren Kyle, Josh, Jason, Keshia and Mhye, several great grandchildren, extended family members, and lots of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, sons Ralph "Micky" and Ronald Zastrow, brothers Kenneth, Michael and Patrick Long, and sister Helen Ritchie.
