James Richardson Obituary

James "Jim" Richardson, age 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away on June 28, 2025.
Jim was born on July 19, 1944, in Clare, Michigan, to Warner "Edward" and Elsie (Eberhart) Richardson. He graduated from Clare High School in 1962 and retired from Dow Chemical in 1998, where he worked as a boilermaker, tinsmith, and master electrician.
Jim married his cherished partner in life and in faith, Alice (VanSicklen) Richardson, and together they built a life grounded in love, family, and service to others. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply loved grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice; his children, Tom (Karen) Richardson of Winfield, Kansas, Darcy Molina of Clare, Michigan, and Jamie (Michael) Wright of Muskegon, Michigan; and by his beloved grandchildren: Warner (Grace) Richardson, Daniel (Hannah) Richardson, Kaleb (Taylor) Molina, Joanna (Walker) Stone, Andrew (Weow) Molina, Alissa (Gabe Arevalo) Molina, Ellie (Ben) Call, Anna Molina, Russell (Tabi) Richardson, Joshua Molina, Jonathan Molina, Kristyn (Andrew) Wolfe, and Michael Wright; and great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Ethan, Karalee, Lily, Amos, and Sylvia Richardson; Abigail, Logan, Ashley and Allison Richardson; Freyja, Alexander and James Molina; Wilder Stone; Tyler, Iyla, Clay, and Boaz Call; Jack and Andy Richardson; and Elinor and Jesse Wolfe.
He is also survived by his siblings Barb Kroll, Dale (Elaine) Richardson, Joyce Dent, and Carol Richardson; his sisters-in-law Pauline Richardson and Sharon Richardson; brothers-in-law Richard VanSicklen and Jeff VanSicklen; and his best friend of 67 years, Leonard Strouse.
Jim was preceded in death by his son-in-law Joel Molina; his parents; his brothers Edward Richardson and Jerry Richardson; his brothers-in-law Robert Dent, Carl Kroll, and Ted Beard; and his sisters-in-law Barb Beard, Barb VanSicklen, and Sharon VanSicklen.
Jim loved deer and rabbit hunting in Michigan, elk hunting in Colorado, and fishing in Florida. Decades of playing "Oh Heck" and Pinochle with his parents and family grew into a lifelong passion for games-he delighted in teaching his kids and grandkids that the best part of playing is the time spent with the people you love.
Whether cutting firewood, tackling house projects, or tinkering in the garage, Jim was always moving, learning, and giving. He studied anything that caught his interest, shared whatever he had, and never stopped striving to grow closer to the people he loved most-especially Alice, to whom he devoted his tireless energy and care.
A memorial service will be held at Dexter Christian Church in Dexter, KS, on Saturday, July 5. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. A second memorial service will be held at Mt. Pleasant First Church of the Nazarene in Mt. Pleasant, MI, on Wednesday, July 30. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the service at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon to follow. Jim has been cremated. Burial at Arthur Center Cemetery will take place at a later date with family.

The qualities of a man are exhibited in the family that surrounds him. Knowing Tom, Karen, Joanna is evidence of the person James was.
