Emily Cargile Obituary

Emily Gail (Everett) Cargile Robersonville - On the first day of Spring, March 20, 2026, Gail Everett Cargile passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family into the arms of Christ, her Savior and Lord. She was 74 years old. After years of declining health, her family and friends are thankful she is no longer suffering as "Spring Hopes Eternal." She will never be forgotten. Her family is most appreciative of her Circle Drive neighbors, high school friends, church family, lunch bunch friends for always being there for her, even in times of illness.

Knowing at a very young age that she was destined to become a teacher, Gail was a career educator in the Martin County Public School System for her entire career. She received her Undergraduate and multiple Masters' degrees from East Carolina University in Early and Middle Grades Education, Library Science, K-12 Reading Specialist and School Administration and Supervision. She also held certifications for Exceptional Children and Academically Gifted Education. After retiring from teaching at Roanoke Middle School, she began a second career in education, this time at the collegiate level teaching for Martin Community College, and online for the University of Phoenix. In 2004, she became a University Supervisor at East Carolina University's School of Education where she observed and evaluated teaching interns, a job she continued until her health failed. In addition, Gail was honored to have served on the Martin County Board of Education for two terms.

Gail was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Robersonville where she served as a Deacon, youth leader, senior adult Sunday School teacher, choir member, pianist, and WMU Leader. In recent years, her favorite biblical passage is from Book of Psalms, 73:26, "My health may fail and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart." She spent many, many hours studying the Bible while her faith grew even stronger.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Blain Cargile, and her parents, Lester and Emily Everett whom she lovingly served as primary caregiver. She is survived by son, Robert Blain Cargile, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Greenville, NC, and son, Colin Everett Cargile of Nashville, TN. She loved her two granddaughters, Maggie Cargile of Towson, MD, and Eva Cargile of Nashville, TN, with all of her heart. She is also survived by her siblings Lester Everett and Sandra of Greenville, NC, Edith Seamans of Virginia Beach, VA, and Craig Everett of Morehead City, NC. She leaves behind many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews, as well as her feline companion, Sissy, who will fondly remember Aunt Gail as someone who loved them dearly while also keeping everyone in line.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, beginning at 2 pm at First Baptist Church, located at 208 East Railroad Street, Robersonville, NC 27871. The family will receive guests following the worship service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial gifts to First Baptist Church of Robersonville honoring her lifelong commitment to the church.
