Barbara Skor Obituary

Barbara Jean Skor, 86, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at her home at Lighthouse Memory Care at Maple Springs in Brigham City, UT.
Barb was born in Sacramento, California on April 15, 1939, to Olga Jensina (Jacobson) Short and Russell Andrew Short. She joined brother Robert. She was proud to say she was born on Income Tax Day. Her family moved to Williston, ND in 1945 and then to Wenatchee, WA in 1946. After one year they moved to their family farm in Hebron Township, west of Williston.
As a young child Barb attended Pioneer Elementary School and St. Lukes Lutheran Church. While attending Williston High School, she lived away from home with extended family in Williston. During this time, she assisted in taking care of her Grandmother and worked at JC Penneys. She loved music and played piano and trombone. She graduated from High School in 1957.
Barb married Raymond Kent Skor on August 31, 1957. They had six children, Richard, Debra, Kenneth, Susan, Kristine and Michael. They made their home in Williston. In 1970 they moved to Wildrose, ND to the family farm. During this time Ray and Barb farmed and contracted the local HCR mail route. She proudly drove the mail route a total of 29 years. Raymond passed away on October 6, 2002. She married neighbor and family friend ElVern Gillund on November 4, 2007. ElVern passed on November 26, 2010. During retirement, in 2013 she moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID, close to Debbie and Susan. She then decided to move to Maple Springs Assisted Living in Brigham City, UT in 2024 and lived close to Kristi.
Barb enjoyed farm life including gardening and her beautiful flowers. She was proud of their Fjord horses and Tarentaise herd. She participated with the kids in sports, school activities, 4-H and music. She was an excellent cook and is famous for her breakfast caramel rolls. Church activities at Our Redeemers Lutheran in Williston and Grace Lutheran in Wildrose were important to her. Since Covid, Barb has attended Kathi Nygaard's (family friend) congregations on-line. She was crafty. She was an excellent seamstress, crocheted many ripple stitch afghans and did woodworking with Ray. She enjoyed travel including road trips, cruises and the trip of a lifetime with Ray to Norway. She always had a smile on her face when spending time with family.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert, husband Ray, husband ElVern and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Barb is survived by children Richard Skor (Jennifer), Debbie Kinservik (Jim), Kenny Skor (Kari), Susan Skor, Kristi Christophersen (John) and Mike Skor (Lyssa). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren/step grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren/step great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Vicki Pearson, nieces, nephews, a large extended family also including ElVern's family.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Wildrose, ND with lunch to follow. No public viewing or burial will take place. Donations can be made in Barb's name to Memory Care and Hospice Care Facilities of your choice.

Barb was such a great force behind the memorable Jacobson family reunion. She convinced me to make the Jacobson family cookbook. My mother, Mariann, loved the pop up cards she would recieve from Barb.
