Jay N. Mathis, age 65, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 at Cornerstone Hospice Facility in Clermont, Florida. Jay was born in San Jose, California on July 16th, 1959. He was the son of the late Jerry N. Mathis and the late Joyce Stocek Mathis.

Jay's contagious laugh and smile are eternal for many!
I am so sorry to hear of his departure but relieved to discover that he had established himself in Florida , as he had dropped of the radar many years ago.
Fond "Jay" memories include; pool-time in Wilton with Patches, numerous gatherings in NYC, and frolics and festivities in Lake Placid.
Jay, you have been, still are, and will be, missed...

I am so sorry to read of this. I had lost touch with Jay over the years but have such fond memories of time with him. It is heartbreaking to think of the loss of such a kind soul who cared more for others than himself. Godspeed Jaybird.

Doreen Powell I will always love you. 25 years is a long time to be togeth

Such sad news. Jay was a member of the great Wilton High School class of '78 and a good friend. We spent many nights at each others house for parties, and driving to concerts with the gang. Tess and I did visit Jay a long time ago when he was living in, I believe, Tequesta FL. But, like many, had lost touch with him in the last 30 odd years. A great athlete, good buddy, he'll be missed and always in our memories. Fly on Freebird... Fly on...
