Tom was born in New York City on May 28, 1933, to Thomas and Anna Flynn. He was raised in New York City and graduated from St. Nicolas of Tolentine, Power Memorial Academy (where he was the basketball team captain and selected to the All-NYC team), and Iona University. He also earned an M.B.A. from New York University's Graduate School of Business Administration. Tom later joined the faculty of Fordham University's Graduate School of Business Administration in 1973, and taught courses in international business for the next twelve years. His career at IBM included an assignment as the head of IBM Europe's Personnel Department at their Paris, France Headquarters. As a specialist in international labor law, Tom was selected as a member of the US Council for International Business to the European Union. He spent much of his time at the EU's headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, where he consulted on a wide range of strategic issues, including employment contractual rights in global reorganizations, the strategic implications of global trade unions, and the impact of the European Union (EU), International Labor Organization (ILO), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Labor and Social Policies. He also served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the University of Pennsylvania-Wharton Multinational Research Advisory Group, and on New York University's Graduate School of Business Board of Directors. He was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Wilton, the Lake Club, and the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick. Tom is survived by his sons, Tom and Chris, brother, John and his family, sister-in-law, Susan Flynn and her family, nephew, Reverend Liam Quinn, niece, Anne Quinn, and cousin, Ann McDonnell and her family.
